Reading Pal — Data Deletion

Last updated: 2026-06-23

This page is provided in accordance with the Google Play account deletion policy. It explains how to request deletion of your Reading Pal account and associated personal data.

App: Reading Pal — developed by Darren Lin (solo developer, Taiwan).

1. How to Delete Your Account In-App

  1. Open Reading Pal and go to Settings → Account.
  2. Tap "Delete account".
  3. Confirm the request. This starts a 30-day grace period.
  4. During those 30 days, log back into the app at any time to cancel the deletion.
  5. After 30 days, all personal data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers.

2. What Gets Deleted

The following are deleted at the end of the grace period:

All personal data associated with your account is removed.

3. What Is Retained and for How Long

Data What survives Retention after deletion
Audit log Event type, timestamp, numeric user ID only — no PII, no reading content Retained indefinitely for compliance verification (de-identified; the user ID no longer maps to any person)
Server access logs IP address and request metadata 30 days, then automatic rotation

The audit log records only that a deletion event occurred (event type: deletion_executed, timestamp, numeric user ID). IP address, device ID, and any user-supplied deletion reason are set to NULL at the moment of hard delete. No book notes or reading content survive in any form.

4. Export Your Data Before Deleting

You can download a full JSON export of your data before deletion:

Settings → Account → "Export my data"

Export is available immediately.

5. No App Access? Use Email

If you cannot log into the app, send a deletion request by email:

We will respond and process the request within 30 days.
